Rugby: Birmingham Moseley 45 v 5 Caldy – Sat 10th August 2019

The season kicked off with a friendly game against last year’s rival Caldy who were narrowly beaten at this very ground which sent them down to the next league. This opening game was eagerly anticipated by all including the Director of Rugby Adam Balding and the Head Coach Peter Glackin.

The whole squad was given a chance to practice their skill during the game in this unconventional format. Nevertheless, after the final whistle blew the home team Birmingham Moseley ran in nine tries against one from the visitors. Sterner test will come during the forthcoming league matches. But for now, everyone is pulling in the same direction which bodes well for the future. It was good to see supporter’s favourite Buster Lawrence, Jacques Le Roux, and few others return for another season.

The club had a visit from bunch of young visitors from Cape Town, South Africa who had their photo taken with the first team followed by SA national anthem to conclude the afternoon.
