This eagerly awaited BBL final between Worcester Wolves and Cheshire Phoenix lived up to all the hype. Both team brought big following which helped to fill the Arena Birmingham to record crowd of over five thousand and many more at home who watched it on television. It was Worcester’s first final ever.
The game was finely poised up until the half way mark with Phoenix leading by a single point. It was the third quarter that Worcester side dropped their guard and the Cheshire Phoenix punished by them scoring 32 vs 22. The final quarter was all evenly matched.
CJ Gettys scored 19 points for the Phoenix, with Robert Sandoval having 8 assists and 5 steals to go with 12 points, while Tevin Falzon went 3 of 3 from downtown in his 12-point haul. And a 26-point haul, by Malcolm Riley together with 9-rebound was named MVP performance of the final.

Worcester were led by 18 points off the bench from Mike Ojo, with Dallin Bachynski scoring 16 and Elvisi Dusha added 15 and 8 assists.
Before the BBL game the crowd was entertained by Manchester Giants’ Austin Rettig winning the 2018 BBL Cup Finals dunk contest in Birmingham sponsored by Pro:Direct. Austin competed against Sheffield Sharks’ Dirk Williams, Bristol Flyers’ Brandon Boggs and Leicester Riders’ Kiefer Douse.
